What is a Jewelry Appraisal?
A jewelry appraisal is a value assigned to your jewelry as of a specific date. The type of value is defined in the scope of work at your initial consultation. Please bring any documentation, including prior appraisals, original receipts and lab reports to your appointment.
Written Appraisals
Our appraisal service is a valuable resource for a variety of purposes, including insurance, bankruptcy, separation/divorce and estates. If you need an appraisal for a legal manner, it is critical to ask your attorney what they require before making an appointment.
You will need to leave your item(s) with us for evaluation. Our team will thoroughly examine your item(s) for any damage and provide recommendations for necessary repairs. It’s important to note that our appraisal includes a section on the condition of your item, which covers aspects such as loose stones, chipped or broken stones, worn prongs, cracks, thin shanks, and other relevant details. If any of these issues are found, we must notate them on the appraisal. It’s advisable to address these concerns before the appraisal if you plan to apply for jewelry insurance, as the insurance company may decline your application based on the condition of the item. We can provide you with an estimate for the necessary repairs and complete them before the appraisal, ensuring a seamless process.
We will then enter a detailed description, including identifying marks, weights, and measurements, into our computer system. You will receive a receipt with this information, along with a photograph of your item(s). Rest assured that all items are fully insured and securely stored in our safe during the appraisal process. Our standard turnaround time for appraisals is one week.
Our comprehensive written appraisals are a minimum of 13 pages, featuring three photographs per item, with your choice of a digital PDF via email or a printed copy with a raised seal. Pricing includes a quick cleaning however, full restoration cleaning, polishing, refinishing, or rhodium plating can be provided for an additional fee.
Pricing: start at $180 per item

Pearls
Differentiating natural pearls from cultured pearls requires advanced lab testing, including the use of X-ray technology. Thus, we do not offer pearl appraising services unless you have previous documentation (receipt, appraisal or lab report.) It’s important to note that pearls are highly sensitive to personal factors such as sweat, acidic skin, perfume, and cosmetics, which can gradually deteriorate the layers of nacre and diminish their value. Due to these reasons, there is limited demand in the secondary market for used pearls, thus our buying event does not purchase pearls.
